On the topic of #Binance being hacked.
The latest reporting I found puts the assets moved at approximately $2.77 billion, across five blockchains, rather than reports of a $3–5 billion loss.
But here is the thing, could this been prevented?
"A poorly implemented delegate can allow a malicious actor to take near complete control over a signer's EOA."
https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7702
EIP-7702 explicitly warns wallet developers that there is no safe way to expose arbitrary delegation authorisations without carefully auditing the target code.
From my Clanker
The risks were documented before the current incident.
May 2025: Ethereum activated EIP-7702 through Pectra.
June 2025: Wintermute reported that over 80% of observed EIP-7702 delegations were associated with a widely reused malicious sweeper contract.
2025: Security researchers documented phishing and malicious delegation attacks capable of draining entire wallets.
October 2026: Further incidents involving EIP-7702 delegations were documented, including an attack affecting 120 wallets.
